The Cilfynydd Synchronous Condenser project was developed by Welsh Power, a South Wales-based business with a long history in the generation and supply of electricity.
 

Welsh Power has a long standing and proven track record in developing grid stability services in response to National Grid requirements. Welsh Power has developed and operates the largest portfolio of grid stability assets in the GB market. This includes an operational synchronous condenser facility in South Wales, four synchronous condensers currently under construction in Scotland and construction of another synchronous condenser in Kent.
